CHRISTIAN CULTURE AND EUROPEAN IDENTITY
Abstract
The sustainability of the European Union is questioned. One problem is the self-identification of the „Eropeans” and the meaning of the noun. If „European“ means a heir to ancient Greece, Rome and the Christianity, there is the problem of the “de-cristianization” of the Westeuropean societies and neglecting the Christian value in favour of the multicultural concept. From a system point of view this deprives the EU of its cultural cernel, since the high achievements of the Christian culture can’t and shouldn’t be sacrificed because of the moral relativism.
